What Causes Discoloration Of Skin Around And A Lump Below A Draining Abscess?

Hi, I had an abscess and it burst on its own and a lot of pus and blood came out a few days ago. However the skin around it is still purplish and there is a lump right below where the head of the abscess used to be. Also, I now have a new pus-filled boil a few inches below the first abscess. That one s grown pretty big too, though it doesn t hurt as much as the first one. What do I do? I have been putting warm compresses on it and cleaning it with antiseptic liquid.

Welcome at HCM
I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns....
Based upon your history my advise to you that you should visit surgeon so that abscess can be drained adequately followed by a course of antibiotics according to culture and sensitivity....
The purplish discoloration which you are talking about along with swelling is actually an induration due to inflammatory process..it will disappear in two weeks time.
Are you diabetic? Do check your blood sugar levels...
Use acetaminophen to relieve pain
Get well soon
