Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello! My 12 years old daughter has recently noticed discoloration on her legs. The discoloration is slightly darker than her normal skin color and is patchy and below the knee to her ankles. There is no discomfort, dryness or itchiness. (She has got her period 3 months back). I am guessing it is sun burn but I wonder why it is only on her legs and no where else. Should I be concerned? Should I take her to the Pediatrician or dermatologist? She is on no medication and takes multivitamins regularly. She is a healthy kid with plenty of physical activity and eats healthy. Please advice. Thank you.
Infections of skin usually causes discoloration. The most common is cellulitis. Some bacterial stains cause cellulitis. Do consult a doctor for clinical diagnosis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
