What Causes Discoloration On The Face After A Head Injury?
Last Sat I tripped and fell and hit the top of my head on a bookcase Immediate swelling occurred and I was taken to the hospital for treatment. They kept me over night for observation and I was allowed to go home the next morning. They said the bleeding was on the outside of the skull. I had a cat scan. I still have a sizeable knot on my head and it still aches. My entire face is black, blue and yellow. Should I be concerned? I have an appointment Monday to see the Doc. again.
Hello Since you have an outside bleeding, this discoloration is a normal process of bleeding caused by the escape of blood under he skin and it's called Ecchymosis, the ecchymosis colour gradually changes from red to a blue or purple hue, followed by a green coloured appearance and turn gradually to yellow in colour which shows that they are nearing recovery and finally they will be brown and take gradually the colour of your skin. Hope I answered your question. Wish you a speedy recovery Best regards DR. Noor Farid
