What Causes Discoloration On Tongue And Roof Of Mouth With Sore Throat?

I have what appear to be enlarged taste buds at the back of my tongue making my throat sore. My tongue and roof of my mouth have a yellowish tinge. There is also a dime-sized red spot that is a different texture than the rest of my tongue. Also I am pregnant. What could this be?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that sore throat along with enlarged taste buds at the back of tongue along with yellowish tinge on tongue and roof of mouth and de sized red spot on tongue seems to be due to throat infection that can be Bacterial or Viral in nature..
As you are pregnant, the immune status of the pregnant women is low and are more prone to infection..
I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles, take a short course of antibiotics, take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, avoid spicy and chilled foods and drink plenty of water
In case of no improvement consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a throat swab culture can be diagnostic and treatment can be planned accordingly..
