What Causes Discomfort And Bloating In The Abdomen After Eating?

After every time I eat, I feel discomfort in the abdomen and bloating. Sometimes, the symptoms are more painful, with a distended belly, gas, and then loose stools. The abdomen discomfort, however, is every day after anything I eat. I ve tried eliminating dairy, gluten, and carbs but can t seem to single anything out. I ve been tested for gluten but markers came back negative. I m in menopause and have gained over 20 lbs in the past year. I m exercising 3-4 x s a week.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to severe gastritis and acid reflux.

As first-line management, you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and plan for an endoscopy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
