What Causes Discomfort/burning During Urination After Finishing Medication For Bladder Infection?

Hi there, I had a bladder infection 9 days ago. I didn t get to the doctors until 3 days after I had it, as the clinic was closed. They gave me Macrobid and to take it for 5 days. The day I started the pills, I also got my period. It is now 2 days since I have finished the pills, 9 days in total I ve had my period (off and on.) And now I m experinging discomfort and the odd time, it burns when I pee. I am wondering if in a spand of two days, was I able to get another bladder infection? Thanks so much.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to recurrent urinary infection.

I suggest doing a urine test to confirm the presence of the infection.

If the infection continues, I recommend starting the second cycle of antibiotics.

Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
