What Causes Discomfort During Urination?

Hello, I m experiencing some kind of sensation that is uncomfortable the moment right before urinating, though not each time I urinate. The times that it s uncomfortable, I have to stop the urge to urinate to not feel the discomfort. When I try again immediately afterwards to urinate I m able to with the discomfort, however once I begin to urinate the discomfort goes away. That was a few days ago, I was able to urinate as usual without feeling uncomfortable but then it started again today. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi,

Noted the history about uncomfortable feeling just before urination sometimes and not all the time.
This can happen with some conditions like:
Urethritis.
Prostatitis
UTI that is urinary tract infection.
Since you do not have the same problem every time you have not seen a Doctor or taken any medications it seems.
Hence I would advise you the following:
First of all send the morning urine sample for routine, microscopy, culture and sensitivity examination.
Tests of blood for CBC, kidney functions.
Ultrasonography of abdomen particularly for genitourinary system.
Consult your Doctor for proper clinical; evaluation and correlation with the reports so that a proper diagnosis and management can be done.
If something specific is found then you may need an opinion of an Urologist and further investigations like Urethro-cystoscopy and get an appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant,
