What Causes Discomfort In Rectal Area, Headache And Pain During Urination?

My son is 21 and has been complaining for 5 days now of discomfort in his rectal area. He checked it out with a mirror, googled images of hemriods and believed that is what he had. He has been putting Preparation-H on them all week with little or no relief. Now he is complaining that he has pain when urinating and he has abdominal pains. He s also had a headache. Do this symptoms together suggest a particular condition.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Is there any fever, nausea or frequent urination? Abdominal pain, headache and pain during urination might suggest a urine infection rather than hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids causes pain around anus during defecation with bleeding sometimes. I would suggest getting a urine routine done to look for urine infection. Meanwhile, drink plenty of fluids and tale paracetamol or ibuprofen for pain relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
