What Causes Discomfort In The Chest After Running?
I am 65 years old and a jogger. Up to a year ago I could run t a HR of 150 to 160 with minimal discomfort for half marathons. However, I have noticed that I get a discomfort in my chest at 125 to 130 after a minimal amount of time running. My pace has not changed. My resting pulse is 70 and notice it is 50 when sleeping. My performance has decreased significantly over a very short period of time. Thank you
Your symptoms point towards cardiovascular disease. Exercise can sometimes increase the risk of a heart attack, especially in those who have heart disease and are not monitoring their activity properly. Advice 1. Avoid strenuous activity 2. Stop smoking if you are a smoker 3. Avoid diet high in saturated fat 4. Measure your blood pressure regularly 5. Investigations a. ECG b. Treadmill test (stress test) c. Echocardiography d. Lipid profile e. Blood sugar (F & PP) f. Serum creatinine g. Hb%
