What Causes Discomfort In The Chest During Jumping?
Hello, I recently bought a trampoline and my sons, twins 6 & 8 have all complained about feeling discomfort in their chests when they jump. One of my 6yr old also said this morning if he takes a small jump on the ground it also hurts. They had been on it on Sunday when we put it together but not for more than half hour or so. They ve also only gone on about 15mins on Tuesday. They don t display any other symptoms nor complain about any other discomforts, only jumping motions. Any advice would be great. I m monitoring but don t know yet if it warrants a trip to the doctor if there s a simple explanation. Thank you in advance
I don't think there is anything to worry. When we jump, the chest muscles do its movement up and down. Especially when in trampoline, it should be a little more vigorous because of the elasticity.
The up and down movement of the chest muscles will stretch the muscle tendons and they cause discomfort and pain sometimes in the initial stages of any exercise routines. Slowly the pain settle down. Do talk to a doctor if symptoms persist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr K. V. Anand, Psychologist
