Hi, I have been having a strange feeling in my chest for the past couple of weeks. I one day decided to listen to my chest using a stethoscope and I can hear that my heart stops for a brief moment. It does happen every few minutes or so. I have already been to the doctor and had a ekg done and have recently finished doing a holter monitor (24 hrs). Everything came back fine. The symptoms have no stopped and I also notice that my pulse will stop at the same time i can hear my heart stop. Do i have cause for concern?
Hi . welcome to "Ask A Doctor service." I have read your question and here is my advice. some times thi feeling can be normal as ectopic beats do occur very frequenctly in general papulation and the heart stops very briefly after ectopic beat .this is normal if there is no fainting , no dizziness , and no difficulty in breathing . if holter is normal in spite that you have the feeling of the heart stoping then it's very re assuring that no thing would be serious . still if you have any of the above mentioned symptoms then you should go for further evaluation otherwise this feeling can occur in normal people . Hopes I have answered your question. I will be glad to answer any further question about this.
