What Causes Discomfort In The Medial Collateral Ligament After Jogging?

I m a 66 yr old female in average shape and I just started jogging. After about 5-10 minutes I feel an intermittent twinge in my left MCL. If I turn my foot slightly outward it seems to help at times. I alternate jogging about 1/10 of a mile, then walking about 2/10 of a mile. Right now I m putting in about 20-30 minutes total. What could be causing this twinge, and how can I prevent it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Try giving it some rest and only activate it mildly by ordinary walking, bicycling or swimming. You may also want to use a supporting compression band around your knee. Any looseness can be assessed clinically by a doctor if the above doesn't help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
