What Causes Discomfort In The Throat While Swallowing?

I have had a pinning sensation on the upper left side of the throat for a long time now which I feel only while swallowing hot liquids and large portions of food, the gp didn t seem concerned and asked me to gargle, but the pain is not related to colds. It happens even in summer when I don t have any colds. What could it be? Please can you help?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. As per your complain you have problem of pinning sensation and difficulty in swallowing and that may be because of nerve damage or esophagitis problem. Reflux problem cause irritation to oesophagus mucosa also. Layngoscopy examination and history give exact idea. Barium swallows can done if needed. Consult a physician for further diagnosis. Detail history and physical examination give exact idea.
