Hello and welcome to HCM,
The discomfort felt in the throat is due to irritation caused by the fumes.
When chemical fumes comes in contact with mucosa of nose and throat, the mucosa turns red and inflamed,
The inflammation lasts till the time the mucosa is exposed to the fumes.
The exposure to the fumes should be stopped to allow the mucosa to recover.
If the inflammation and swelling are severe, immediate medical help should be sought.
The exposure is unlikely to affect your baby since the fumes have affected the mucosa and there is no significant blood absorption till this time.
So, do not worry.

Thanks and take care
