Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Discomfort In Upper Abdomen After Severe Coughing?
I have a full feeling in the right side of the top of my abdomen. I cannot feel it with my fingers but I can feel it move within me. This has been going on about 2 weeks. I had a respiratory virus prior to this and coughed a lot. This feeling occurred one morning upon awakening. There is no pain.
Hello and welcome to HCM, A history of viral infection of respiratory tract and pain in upper right abdomen is suggestive of pleural pain. The viral infection of respiratory tract can spread to the pleura and thus cause pain. If the respiratory infection has cleared, the pleural pain will also disappear within few days. You can wait for few days for the pain to relieve. If the pain still persists then there is need to consult your primary healthcare provider.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
