Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter started making weird thrusts with her head, like a chicken. She says she feels discomfort in her neck at the base of her head, behind her ear, and the thrusting helps and is hard to stop. She also bends back her fingers to stretch them and reports the same discomfort in her fingers. She says bending them back relieves the feeling, until she lets go. What could be causing this?
There can be various clinical issues for discomfort head and neck which relieves with back bending as: - Acute muscle or ligament spasm at nape of neck or lower cervical region - Early spondylosis changes - Secondary to unknown trauma or pressure during sleeping or else causing nerve compression
A physical examination with her physician is mandatory for the diagnosis. However, primary care with muscle relaxant as chlorzoxasone and analgesic as diclofenac or ibuprofen is best recommended to be consumed after meals if there is no history of drug sensitivity.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
