What Causes Discomfort On Left Side Of Chest While On Coumadin?
my dad is 85 y.o. s/p cabg x1, mitral valve repair 20years ago with history of atrial fib and is on Coumadin. he works at Walmart and while standing at work today as a greeter he noticed momentary buzzing feeling on left side of chest, only for a few seconds with no other symptoms. it did recur several times. he just told me about this now. feels fine now. any thoughts. he said he never had this buzzing feeling ever before. thanks
The above said symptom can be due to the momentary rhythm change of his heart which developed for a few seconds. You have mentioned that he was in atrial fibrillation. Is he taking any medicines other than coumadin for rhythm control? It can be a recurrence of atrial fibrillation. If there is recurrent episodes then a ECHO needs to be done and cardiac evaluation, Valve functioning etc., needs to be assessed. The first basic investigation he needs is a baseline ECG and if no abnormality in ECG then a continuous ECG (Holter) monitoring needs to be done.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
