What Causes Discomfort Under Ribs?

Hi, I have had discomfort in my upper left hand side abdomen under my ribs for 4 weeks now. It feels deep inside but there is no soreness when it is pressed. My doctor has order a CT scan on Monday suspecting problems with my spleen or bowel. What do you think?
