Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have some discomfort when I begin to urinate or sometime when I m almost through. I have recently had urinalysis and a culture looking for a UTI -- all negative. There is no bleeding, no burning just a pin like pain. I ve also just had my yearly physical--every test normal.
Hello, Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic! I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
Since your urine routine and culture results are all negative,we can rule out urinary tract infection(UTI) and we can narrow down our differentials. The other possible cause is minor calculi(stone) anywhere along your urinary tact. You have to do an ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis to look for any minor calculi. Prostate enlargement(BPH) can also cause similar presentation only if your age is above sixty. You can try the following home remedies first, 1.Drink plenty of water and have healthy diet. 2.Avoid foods that predispose to renal stones like tomato, red meat, cheese .Since a urologist can work out better in your case,I suggest you to consult a urologist in your near by area and get evaluated. You may require an ultrasound as a first line investigation.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards. Dr.Shinas Hussain
