What Causes Disorientation And Confusion In A Bed Ridden Patient?
I care for an elderly lady, 89. She has had bowel movement last 3 days, yesterday had an enema, because her daughter thought she was constipated!!!! But every few weeks gets very confused and thinks she s still living in the past. When this happens we normally give her an antibiotic because it s on repeat prescription. This time no antibiotics were given and still the same pattern. She is bed ridden. She talks in the past for a day or two, then into sleep mode for a day then back to normal, can you please give me some answers.
Hi She needs to be investigated for encephalopathy depending upon her health issues. If she has any renal or hepatic problem like chronic renal failure, chronic viral hepatitis or liver failure, any history of alcohol intake, etc. Injecting antibiotic won't do good if she has no infection. Thank you for contacting healthcare magic.
