What Causes Disorientation And Memory Loss In An Elderly Person?

Yes. I have an 89 year old aunt presently on a low dose of xanax for anxiety. She is experiencing extreme disorientation, memory loss, hostile outbursts (scratched her sitter last night). Normally she is very quiet and sophisticated--never says or does the wrong thing. Can this be a side effect of xanax? Only taking an antibiotic in addition to the xanax
