What Causes Distented Abdomen In A Person With Multiple Health Problems?
My husband is 69 years old He has multiple health problems heart disease smoldering multiple myeloma kidney problems and squamous cell carcinoma on his ear Now I noticed that his abdominal is very distended He has not complained of any pain but his appetite has not been good for some tome
As per my clinical experience, the abdomen distension with loss of appetite in a patient with multiple myeloma kidney may be matter of concern to get evaluated. Following are the sound possibilities in his case: - Worsening myeloma - Derangement of kidney function with raised creatinine - Liver weakness and raised SGPT and SGOT - Digestive enzyme disturbances
It is best needed for him to get checked for: - Ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis - Complete hemogram with hemoglobin and WBC count - Serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen with BUN / creatinine ratio
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
