Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Distention Around The Incision Site Of An Abdominal Surgery?
husband had surgery this past spring. cyst on his stomach that was perforated during the draining of the cyst. surgery to clean out the bacteria and drain the cyst. today was doing strenuous activities and the incision area is very distended. he was cleared by the surgeons in June of this year. should we be worried about the extension?
I think the distention is either lymph system impairment or the bowel distention over the surgery site due to partial obstruction from fibrotic tissue. I don't think this is related to the reformed cyst.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
