What Causes Distorted Wavy Vision In A Patient With Migraine?
I have had severe migraines for at least 25 yrs. After being given imitrex i got them fairly under control. Th las few months i have had mild migraines mostly with wavy peripheral vision which is diorienting but not necessarily much pain. My depth perception seems to be off while trying to type or read , with my things I see having a bit of surrealism. Do I need to see someone about this?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Migraine is preceded by aura, which is characterized by altered sensations of vision and other altered sensory perceptions. However, these symptoms disappear once the episode of migraine is over. However, the symptoms described by you - that is wavy peripheral vision and alteration in depth perception may not be due to aura of migraine. These symptoms could be due to some disorder of eyes. High intra-ocular pressure or glaucoma is characterized by disorder of peripheral vision initially. I suggest you to consult an ophthalmologist for clinical assessment of visual field. In case no ophthalmic disorder is detected then the migraine may be responsible for these symptoms and proper management of migraine will alleviate these symptoms.
