What Causes Dizziness After Exposure To Bleach Fumes?

Hi I used quite a bit of bleach while cleaning my small bathroom with no windows. I started to feel very light headed and dizzy so I immediately went outside. This was about 2 days ago. I now have a lot of sinus pressure and a terrible headache. I have a bit of a runny nose and sore throat. Should I be concerned, or is this something that will go away once my sinuses heal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

Sodium hypochlorite with ammonia present in bleach may lower the blood pressure if inhaled causing dizziness.

Sinusitis symptoms you have got may be because of reaction to the fumes as they act as irritant to respiratory tract.
If I were your treating doctor,I recommend,
-Analgesics like acetaminophen twice a day for headache.
-Oral anti histaminics like cetrizine once a day for 3 days.
-Steam inhalation and nasal irrigation with saline will help relieve symptoms.
-Read the instructions carefully given with the bleach powder container.Use it in open space.
-If you feel increasing chest tightness, breathing difficulty, immediately visit ER.
Oral antibiotics like erythromycin 3-4 times a day will be required for 5 days if above symptoms donot resolve in 3 days(prescription drug)

Hope I answered your query.
Wish you good health
