What Causes Dizziness After Playing?

I play racquetball 2-3 times a week. The last few months when I play hard for about 45 minutes i then get very lightheaded and a little dizzy. If I sit for 5-10 minutes to gets better, but comes back if I play hard racquetball again. I am 61 and in fairly good shape, 5 10 , 175 lbs. My normal blood pressure is about 125/72 with a pulse rate of 65. I have not had many health issues, just checking to see what this might indicate. Thanks Wayne

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Usually in old age dizziness is more frequently caused by fluctuating blood sugar levels. As pancreas becomes older its ability to produce insulin is reduced. First, do a fasting and postprandial blood sugar test, if its abnormal then consult a general physician. There is also a possibility of electrolyte imbalance. First screen for reduced or fluctuating blood sugar levels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shakeel Khan
