Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had ear wax removed from my ear yesterday. No sign of infection according to a Nurse Practisioner who treated me. Before the wax was removed I Had brief dizziness when I would lay flat. Today my ear feels better but still irritated. My question is: could my ear be irritated still because it was scraped some during the removal? It feels irritated and I am still just slightly dizzy when I lay. Should these things/symptoms stop by themselves over time? If so, about how long might this take? Thank you!
It is quite a common phenomenon and is due to decompression in the inner ear. Nothing to worry and it will settle in a couple of days. As of now, you can take drugs like betahistine for symptomatic relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
