Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness Along With Confusion And Fatigue?
I have a friend in the nursing home who several times has had to be hospitalized. Her symptoms begin with giddiness, then move to confusion and lethargy. After a couple of days of confusion her mind clears up but she will be exhausted and unable to sleep and at times hallucinating. After a couple of more days she is able to rest and slowly return to normal. She is a paraplegic and has a super-pubic catheter and has reoccurring UTIs which at times cause confusion but are rarely preceded by giddiness or the inability to sleep or hallucinations and are generally accompanied by a fever. In these latest episodes there has been no fever. I have long suspected a drug interaction or a mix up in her medication.
The issue is through the definite central nervous system problem with involvement of spinal cordnerve roots as there is supra pubic catheter in situ, the bladder control is gone.
However, for the type of lesion and pathology underlying; one requires physical examination, elicitation of neurology signs and co-relation of supportive findings of MRI and other parameters.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
General & Family Physician
