Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. Lately I have been feeling unusually light headed, weak and exhausted. I have dealt with these issues in the past but they seem to be worsening rapidly. I m not sure why. The most frightening part is whenever I try to fall asleep at night, I feel as though my blood pressure is dropping very low and my chest starts to hurt. This will lead to me feeling like I m floating above my body and like I may faint. I can t fall asleep bc of these issues so many nights I just sit up on the couch and rest instead of sleep. I fainted last year and hit my head and had a concussion. They did an EKG in the ER and said things looked normal. When I had my second child my blood pressure dropped to 40/20 and was hard to bring back up. Does it seem like I may have a heart condition? If so, do I fit the profile for any condition in particular? Thank you.
Your symptoms make me think of the following possibilities: 1) Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo 2) Anxiety disorder 3) Arrhythmias or rhythm disturbances of heart 4) Blood pressure fluctuations 5) Cervical spondylitis
As you had an ECG which showed normal results, heart disease can be ruled out. My suggestions are as follows: 1) Take tab. Vertin twice daily for a week. 2) Take tab. Zoloft once daily before sleep.
If your symptoms persist even after 1 week, consult a neuro-physician for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
