What Causes Dizziness And Belching While Having Hypertension And Diabetes?

Hi, My dad, aged 65, is experiencing slight dizziness ONLY while standing, with occasional belching and nausea. He is fine in the morning but gets the symptoms after his afternoon sleep. He has hypertension and diabetes. While he is dizzy, his BP is high: 150/85 with pulse at 65, and blood sugar levels are around 140-150.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Dizziness on standing is commonly related to a drop in blood pressure on standing.

It is called orthostatic hypotension.

His doctor can determine if this is the case by checking his sitting/lying bp and pulse and then rechecking on standing.

There are different factors that may contribute to this and the treatment would vary slightly depending on the cause.
General treatment however involves: making sure he stands slowly and drink a lot of water.

I hope this helps
