Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness And Breathlessness After Taking Lisinopril?
I have just started taking a blood pressure medication - it s Lusinopril. I have been taking it for five days now and today I had an experience where I felt faint for a moment, felt like I couldn t catch my breath and then was going to pass out. I did not pass out and the sensation went away within a few minutes. Is it normal to have some symptoms like this when your body is getting used to a blood pressure medication?
The fact that the chest tightness went away within a few minutes is a reassuring sign that might suggest the symptoms being due to anxiety.
On the other hand because Lisinopril and the drugs in its class have a risk for a condition called angioedema which causes reactions similar to severe allergy it is important that you see your doctor so he can examine you and make sure that you are not at risk of developing angioedema.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
