What Causes Dizziness And Discomfort In The Ear ?
My mother is 88 she has taken her blood pressure 3 time in the last 1/2 hour the averaging 175/83. She taken of her blood pressure medicine 6 months ago when her Dr felt is needed and possibly causing other problems. She states she is light headed at the moment and has a strange feeling in her ear. She lives at assisted living center.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dizziness and discomfort in the ear which can occur due to accumulation of ear wax, ear fluid, ear infection to more serious acoustic neuroma like condition. Sometimes rupture of ear drum by q tip can also cause such symptoms . Maintain hygiene and avoid pricking it with sharp object. If your symptoms and episodes of earache are getting frequent then you should consult ENT specialist and start treatment after prescription. Doctor may prescribe drug like eperisone , muscle relaxant, antiemetic drug and sedatives. Doctor may order certain test like audiometry , CT scan ,MRI , low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like hearing loss , exposure to loud noises , earwax buildup , middle ear infection. Doctor may treat it according to the diagnosis , may prescribe medicine antibiotics. Keep your ear dry and cover them while bathing .
