What Causes Dizziness And Fatigue Along With Chest Discomfort?
I am a 33 year old woman. I have been very dizzy for the past few weeks. Also, I feel a flutter in my chest when I move my eyes and am very tired, even after getting 10 hours of sleep a night. There are times I feel like I am going to fall over from being off balance even if I’m just standing still. I feel like I am drunk all the time!!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms could be related to low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension. A metabolic cause (thyroid gland dysfunction, vitamin D deficiency, chronic anemia, etc.) can not be excluded either. Coming to this point, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:
- a resting ECG and a cardiac ultrasound.
- complete blood count for anemia.
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction.
- blood electrolytes.
- vitamin D levels.
In the meantime, I recommend you to closely monitor your blood pressure values. A Head Up Tilt test may be needed in case of suspicions on a possible orthostatic hypotension.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
