What Causes Dizziness And Hot Flashes In Body Of An Elderly Person?
My mom is 83 years old. She has been having these spells where she gets hot and lightheaded and says it was just like when she had hot flashes but her doctor told her no way at her age it is hot flashes. Mom wants to know if it s possible for someone who hasn t been on HRT for a while and 83 yrs old to experience hot flashes?
Hot flashes are not only a woman's problem.Men can experience hot flashes too.
This is due to hormonal imbalance ,when the testosterone level drops . In women, the level of testosterone start to decrease every year after the age of 40.
If your mother is experiencing hot flashes ,then she may need to do some tests including Testosterone level and thyroid function tests (FT3,FT4 and TSH).
Consult some nearby physician or endocrinologist for further information.
Hope it helps,regards,
