What Causes Dizziness And Itchy Skin After Taking Zyrtec?

My doctor suggested for me to take a 10 mg pill of zyretec. Every time I take a pill, I get extremely dizzy and fall asleep for about 2 hours. Today I took half a pill and got the same symptoms. My skin also was itching and I was getting hot and cold throughout the day. I don t want to take the medicine again because it is making me scared and afraid. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Zyrtec is an antihistamine and can casue dizzines as a side effect.
So, in my opinion the symptoms seem to be related to side effects of the medication.
If the symptoms continue, you can stop the medication and consult your doctor about an alternative treatment.

Hope my answer was helpful.
If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
