Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness And Loss Of Balance While On Ropinirole And Amantadine?
Hi I am Merlin and my doctor has changed my prescriptions of Ropinirole to Amantadine. 6 days into this change and I am feeling like I am on alcohol. Everything is foggy, ,y eyes don t focus. slow, unbalanced and I have a feeling of being endangered by the changes. Prior to this change from Ropinirole I was feeling very good considering I have PD.
Suggestive of side effects of Amantadine. Prescribed in the treatment of Parkinson's disease Amantadine is known to cause blurred vision, nausea, loss of appetite, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, imbalance, headache, dry mouth, or constipation. I advise you to consult your treating doctor for dose adjustment or to prescribe an alternate effective but a safer medicine for PD. Meanwhile to prevent from falling, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. If you have a walker or wheelchair, use it every time you get up.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
