What Causes Dizziness And Nausea After Knee Joint Injection?

A week ago my mother (87) underwent a procedure where the doctor inserted needles in her knees this procedure is performed before doing a procedure where the nerves are burned because she has such severe arthritis in both knees. Ever since she has experienced dizziness and nausea. Could this be related to her dizziness and nausea?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the intra articular injection of steroid or other medicinal injection would not be responsible for nausea. Dizziness might be possible from vasovagal syncope, but that lasts only for few minutes only. If it is on persistent long basis for a period of hours or days post procedure, the simultaneous prescription of analgesic, anti-inflammatory medications or else can be responsible for the same.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
