What Causes Dizziness And Nausea After Stopping Xanax And Geodon?
Hi Yes My Psychiatrist changed my medicine. I went from taking 40mg of Geodon and 2mg of Xanax a day down to 20 mg of geodon. Dr added Lithium 150 three weeks ago and just took me off the Geodon 20mg and Xanax 2mg on Monday. I have not slept since then. I am having symptoms of withdrawl. Pretty severe. Dizzy, very nauseated, chilled, low fever and bad headaches along with body aches feels like awful flu but I am not vomiting. The not sleeping is very bad and causing me to be very agitated and have some mania. I am Bipolar 2 with PTSD and panic attacks. Have not felt this bad ever.
Geodon or Ziprasidone is not the first line drug in bipolar disorder. Lithium is a drug of choice for bipolar disorder. However, Geodon is not known to give so much of withdrawal symptoms you have mentioned and also it reduces slowly so less likely. May be you are not tolerating lithium well. So you may need to consult your psychiatrist on this and clarify if it is withdrawal or lithium reaction. There are other mood stabilizers like Valproate or oxcarbazepine which can be tried.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prashant Gohil
