What Causes Dizziness And Nausea While Sleeping?

About 3-4 wks ago I suddenly awoke middle of the night with a spinning sensation and impending nausea (didn t throw up). I sat up immediately, it was almost like something woke me and told me to sit up immediately to keep from passing out, and just like that it went away. Best I recall I lay back down and went to sleep for the rest of the night. Since then I have had periodic vertigo, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth and thirst. Other than that I ve been normal, have maintained routine vigorous exercise routine w/no issues. No perceived cognative issues, speech and hearing fine, rare instances of anxiety perhaps a bit more than historically. ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

My thoughts and suggestions are as below. Sudden awakening due to vertigo and nausea that continues on with periodic vertigo, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth and thirst indicate that you may a problem with the Ear and/or sinuses or brain and needs the following:
Consult an ENT Surgeon, for clinical evaluation, examination and proper investigations of MRI of the Brain, MRA that is angiography, and of Mastoid with nerves and vestibulo-cochlear apparatus to know the exact diagnosis so that a proper management can be done. Till then continue with symptomatic medications.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
