Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness And Panic Attacks After A Lumbar Puncture?
I had a lumbar puncture done 6 days ago. Which I got immediate lightheaded for 2 days. But then I got 2 panic attacks out of the blue Monday evening and a very severe one immediately after I open my eyes in bed Tuesday morning. But today all day long I gave had tingling in my arms and legs with some numbness and severe trembling throughout the entire day.
As per your history symptoms are suggestive of infection which has crossed the blood-brain barrier, may be the cause is contamination of the spinal fluid. But, it can be post-procedural psychological effects too.
As there are chances of psychological vulnerability to some patients who take it seriously. I would recommend you to visit your physician again, as you know there were already some doubts, so was your cerebrospinal fluid taken.
You need to keep your self-hydrated properly also get a physical check-up of your site where from spinal fluid was taken.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muzaffer Hussain Parray,
Dentist
