What Causes Dizziness And Sleepiness While On Keppra?

I am a female, 60 yrs. old and had a motorcycle accident 6 days ago. I was medivaced to LR, AR to UAMS. One of the drugs I was prescribed was Keppra for seizures. Is this necessary? It seems to have several severe side effects. I think it is making me very dizzy and sleepy. I have been on it for several days now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Good day and thank you for posting this question. Keppra can cause dizziness and feeling sleepy. It is necessary for treating seizures. If I were your doctor I would reduce the dosage of the Keppra and if you are still feeling dizzy and sleepy I will tell you to stop it and give another drug for your seizures. Kindly discuss with your doctor.
I hope it helps.
Thank you.
