What Causes Dizziness And Vision Loss?

For the last at least 6 years I ve randomly been getting dizzy and losing my eyesight for a short period of time. I ve never thought much of it because it was never very often. The day beforr Easter it happened, but I actually fully blacked out. I wasnt very worried about it. But, this week it s happened 6 times and I m getting worried. Can you think of any idea on why this is happening?

Hi,

You are definitely facing a neurological problem. The cause of these symptoms could be a possible TIA.These are like small strokes that come for a few seconds and then resolve on their own. I do not have the details like age and prior illnesses from your message. But this surely needs to be evaluated further.I would recommend a MRI brain with MR angiogram of blood vessels (from Aorta) if I was treating a patient with similar symptoms here in my OPD.

However, I would have had the luxury of examining the patient as well.Irrespective, I would recommend testing the MRI. Antiplatelet and Statins may be the therapy of choice and you may need a cerebral angioplasty if the report shows a significant damage.I have tried to make it as simple as possible.Feel free to follow up with me for any related queries, preferably with the report of the scan. There are other possible causes but since this has most drastic effects and needs immediate treatment,I have recommended the management for TIA first.

Hope I have answered your query.
