Dear doctor,My mother is suffering from hypertension for the last 5 years..She has been taking Tazloc40 and Starpress Xl am 1tab each in the night and morning respectively along with 1 tab Atorva and 1 tab Feliz Splus in the evening..But recently she is having problem of extreme high BP ,lack of sleep and drowsiness and dizziness specially in the morning..A new cardiologist has prescribed Nexito LS and Olmat 20 and stopped Tazloc 40mg,starpress xl am and Feliz s Plus..On taking the new medicines today for the first time, she had problem of dizziness and vomited..I am worried is it safe to change the medicines all of a sudden and is it safe to continue with the new medicines..Please Revert ASAP..
Yes,high blood pressure medications can switched suddenly if there is poor control. According the history , she had dizziness even before the medication was changed so it is possible that this symptom is continuing from before and not related to the new medications.
Dizziness can be associated with vomiting. She should consider review by a doctor for the dizziness. It can be related to the inner ear so she might want to consider an ENT doctor.
I hope this helps
