Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife is in Louisiana and I am in California. She called me with complaints of being dizzy for several months off and on and now she is also vomiting. The dizzines spells usually went away, but this time it has cause her to vomit.. She is reluctant to call am ambulance..What concerns should I relayt backto her..?
Dizziness associated with nausea and vomiting may be related to the inner ear. Inner ear conditions are the most common cause for vertigo/ dizziness.
The inner conditions are:
(1) menieres disease - may be associated with hearing loss and tinnitis
(2) benign paroxysmal positional vertigo - episodes last for a few minutes and occur with certain positions of the head
(3) vestibular neuronitis - this is the most common and may follow a viral infection in some cases.
There are other causes as well but these are the most common. In some cases medications such as dramamine which treats vomiting and dizziness can be used.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
