Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness, Diarrhea And Fever After Stopping Bactrim DS?
I just stopped taking Bactrim DS. I was on the 9th day of a 10 day cycle. On the 3rd day of taking this I began getting lightheaded, by the 9th day I had a small fever, broke out in a rash on my legs and arms and my heartrate was elevated. I immediately stopped taking it and have been off it for 2 days now. I still have the rash and a little lightheadedness, fever is gone. Also I just started getting diarrhea. Is the diarrhea normal after coming off this med and how long would you expect these issues to go away?
The diarrhea can be a common side effect of the antibiotics. I suggest to use daily probiotics and an over the counter medication to treat the diarrhea such as Imodium. I also suggest using a plain diet and drink a lot of liquids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
