What Causes Dizziness, Fluctuating BP, Excessive Sleepiness And Fatigue?

My husband when he has an episode has been off & on light headed, staggers sometimes as he walks, Blood pressure fluctuates, between 130 over 78 down to 98 over 58. He is extremely tired. He has a darker than usual urine and this week has some crystals sometime when he urinates. His Eyess during this time look grayish with many blood vessels, like he has been on a weeks drunk but drinks maybe a beer a month if that. Spends a lot of time taking naps when these hit him, He is 68 years old and in very good health 95 percent of the time. He has had 3 of these episodes within the last month almost always towards the end of the week. Mostly Thursdays lasting 24-48 hours. This week it started on Wednesday.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about your husband having episodic attacks of dizziness, weakness, sleepiness and fluctuating blood pressure; lasting for 2 hours almost every weekend. Episodic nature indicates that there is something that is occurring when there is a trigger. Such trigger can be from heart, kidney infection, electrolyte imbalance that gets corrected within 24 - 48 hours hence getting alright and so on. Hence I would advise him the following in such a situation: Consult a Doctor when in attack for detailed history taking, clinical evaluation, full clinical examination and relevant investigations of blood, urine and stool. This will allow clinical diagnosis to be further supported by further investigations and Specialist's opinion if needed. Once a proper diagnosis has been made then a directed and guided treatment should help him for full recovery and avoidance of further attacks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
