What Causes Dizziness In An Elderly Person With Subdural Hematoma?

my 91 mom had a hematoma on the left top hemisphere that was pretty severe. after several x-rays and a couple of CT s her Dr. said the hematoma was absorbing nicely but she does have lasting cognitive issues. She flew from San Antonio to Detroit in mid February. Ever since then she remarks that her head hurts on the upper left side of her head and she seems to experience more dizzy episodes. She can not have an MRI due to a pacemaker. Could more damage have been done by flying?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi.

You should have consulted her doctor before allowing her to fly, especially because the pressure change on a flight can cause trouble to an individual who is still recovering from a hematoma, and yes not damage per say but it could have caused some amount of stalling or regression of the condition. Consult a doctor for further management.

Best wishes.
