What Causes Dizziness, Nausea, Abdominal Pain And Diarrhea In A 9-year-old?
My daughter is 9 years old. She has been ill since Sunday. She complained on dizziness & nausea so I took her to the immediate care. I was told it was probably just a 24 hr virus. She was still sick on Monday then again yesterday so I took her to her pediatrician yesterday & was told basically probably still just a virus that hasn't gone completely away yet. However, today she has severe diarrhea & is curled up in a ball crying, stating that she is having severe stomach pain. She describes it as a burning sensation in her upper abdomen that then spreads downward & to the side. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
I understand your concern. The symptoms seem to be related to a gastrointestinal virus. The stomach pain is due to the vomiting. Some advice that I can give you are:
1) Give probiotics.
2) Give liquids to prevent dehydration.
3) Give mild foods depending on how she feels.
Hope my answer was helpful. If you have any other questions, Ill be glad to help.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
