Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness, Weakness And Intermittent Sweating In An Elderly Person?
My uncle is 72 and has been sick for a month of so.....went to emergency room - he was discharged after 3 days with same symptoms.....dizziness, weakness, off and on sweating......he has had at least one doctor apt each week plus various tests and 2 rounds of antibiotics ( in case it is an inner ear infection )......is going tomorrow for more blood work and to see another doctor. It doesn t even sound like they know what they are aiming at. He is no better - and extremely frustrated and getting more upset. To return to the emergency room again, it seems to no avail, as they discharged him a month ago with the same problems as when he was admitted. Any suggestions??
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dizziness, weakness and intermittent sweating in an elderly person . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like ear infection , condition like meniere's disease , food poisoning , heart problem or anxiety disorder . I would suggest you to stay calm , avoid bending forward , avoid food like nuts and sea food , drink plenty of fluid and drink green tea thrice a day . If condition doesn't get better then consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan of ear , examine with otoscope , rotatory chair test and balance test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like gentamycin , antiemetic drug ,anti inflammatory along with vestibular therapy . Doctor may also refer you to endocrinologist for hormonal imbalance .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
