What Causes Dizziness While On Bisoprolol?

I took bisoprolol 1.25mg for a month, a 24 hour recording diagnosed essential hypertension. Told to stop taking bisoprolol and start Ramipril 2.5mg in a week s time after fasting bloods. Read last night that bisoprolol can take a few weeks to work and felt lightheaded last weekend and took my own BP and it was 110-70. Worried now I didn t share that with GP yesterday. Should I contact him or just do as suggested. Thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Please, do not worry and continue taking Ramipril as prescribed by your doctor. Lightheadedness or dizziness is a common complication of Ramipril. It is usually a temporary condition untill your body adjusts to the medicine.
Beta-blockers (bisoprolol) usually shows an effect after a few hours but the full effect for decreasing blood pressure is usually observed after a couple of weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
